About the Club

The NatCap Club has gone thru many iterations. Back in 2003, I envisioned it as a club for junior high kids.  And me getting paid by leading edge socially responsible companies like Interface.  As part of their community outreach.

It’s now a social club.  A 21st century version of the social clubs that were really popular & flourished from the late 1800′s and into the mid-1900′s.

For example, the Elks Club, which was started in the late 1800′s by unemployed actors.  But they do social Good.

But I see us having virtual and in-person parties. Whatever cool stuff technology will allow. Me, I’m Old School & Trad, so I’ll most likely stick to hosting in-person parties.

I like hanging out with folks who Care about stuff. I like to share and do what I can to improve stuff in the way we do our average type jobs.

After all, with all due respect to Van Jones and the “New Green Economy,”

Most of us will continue to have regular and/or schmucky type jobs that don’t directly have to do with bettering both People & the Planet.

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

There’s only one ‘requirement’of sorts that I ask.  That’s that you appreciate walking in “A  Good Way”. And like to have a good time in the process. The Ojibwe have a word “Na-ma-ji” - It means “Do everything you do with Honor, Pride, Respect and Dignity”

The Club’s original Goals

The long term goal of the club is to make every persons job or college major part of the Green Economy.

Right now, even while these ideas are gaining momentum, it’s not the norm.

Eventually the attitude of everyone will need to be:

“Why of course we integrate sustainability.

Ya gotta be crazy not to”

This means that sustainability must also becomes part of the education curriculum at every level, from pre-school on up.  Ok, pre-school is a bit out there, but you get the idea.

But we need to crawl before we can walk, and walk before we can run.

The Natural Capitalism Club is just a few stumbles in the right direction.

It’s a long journey, one that will continue on until, well, until forever.

After all, who sets out to live doing stuff that is damaging to the environment or to people?

Come ‘on, join us on the trail.  You’ll like it.  I guarantee it.

And the 1st thing is to find out what the NatCap Club can do for you right now.

What will the NatCap Club do for you?
